M A C H I N E

January 13th 2017

May I present my dearest possession (not counting my husband and children who always wins :0).
I have had it for 20 years so far and it sews like a dream still. It probably needs a little bit of oiling up at the moment, no wonder since its 47 years old!
It has only got the basic stitches which is all I need really. To be fair it has got a lot of ornate stitches which you choose by fitting  a big plastic "screw" at the back of it and choose that colour on the dials at the front. Do not use them very often, but some of them are really pretty.

This is the latest memory blanket I have made up. It`s for 2 adorable boys to share. Hope they have lots of cosy snuggles underneath it together.

Mom chose the grey elephants for backing fabric. Good choice as they are so cute lined up and also a neutral colour that don`t compete with the colourful squares at the front.

This another one just finished. Spots for backing this time. You can`t go wrong with the spot.

Why not treat yourself to a memory blanket. Pull all the outgrown baby clothes out of the attic and make something of them that you can enjoy everyday.
Is your son or daughter moving away from home? Why not treat them to a memory blanket to make them feel loved even when you are not there to remind them.
Visit my shop at etsy.com to order yours.

Spread the love

C O O K I E

D E C O R A T I N G

I dearly hope that you have had a fab Christmas.
Maybe some time to relax, eat and to be merry.

What I love about having time off is that you get to do all the things that you wanted to do forever but life got in the way. One of those things for me is cookie decorating, you know the ones that are beautifully flooded with colorful icing and look good enough to eat ;0)
Finally this morning it happened, I had some time for myself, children still in bed (teenagers on holiday time, bliss) and I went to the freezer and found a tin of biscuits I had forgotten about. Sometimes everything works in your favor.

I loved every minute of it and have to make sure I have more sugar cookies in the freezer for the next time the moment presents itself.
If you would like to get some inspiration please have a look here, here and here. I might have to practice a bit more to get that good, but I will sure enjoy trying.

If you like me need a really fab tutorial please visit the bearfoot baker for some expert tips and tricks. She even has a super recipe for sugar cookies.
She makes it looks so easy and with such beautiful result.

It is pretty delicate work and takes a steady hand which I had, sometimes anyway :0)

This is the one that I am most proud over, the little rabbit with swirly pattern. I dotted small blobs of dark blue runny icing and swirled them around with a tooth pick while the white icing was still wet. The trick is to stop in time and not overdo it.

I used matches to blob and tooth picks to swirl and spread the icing.

When my daughter decided it was morning :0) she joined me and had as much fun as me.It was like a regular production line in the end!

Keep playing

B I G,  B I G,  B I G

W O O L L Y  S H A W L

I have to admit that I have an addiction..........
I now have got at least 10 of these beautiful babies in my wardrobe and they are B I G !
To my defense though I have to say that they are a bit like shoes, you can`t have too many and also you have to have the right colour to match your clothes. So there is no limit to how many you need really ;0)

I think my favorite a is light blue, lightly marbled one that you can`t find in the shop at the moment but planning on making one soon. I do want to share all the cosyness (that should be a word right?)

This gorgeous turquoise colour is in the shop though and could be yours if you head over to etsy and snap it up. There might be another colour that you like too......
You can join me in my addiction!

If you would like to make your own shawl grab some yarn and head over to this
treasure trove and start crocheting. But beware, you might not be able to stop.........

Keep doing what you love
Keep loving yourself

Clay

Clay day

March 1 2016

Having some time to sit and squeeze a lump of clay can calm the most stressed person (the difficulty lies in trying to get them to sit down in the first place :0).
We were making Easter decorations and Happy Birthday labels.

We rolled out the clay about three quarters of a cm thick to make them easier to handle. If the clay is too thin it will most certainly stick to the table and that is something you want to avoid. we then used cookie dough cutters to cut out the shapes and leave them to dry.

These stars will become Happy Birthday labels to hang onto birthday gifts.

Happy Easter rounds.
They will take a couple of days to dry properly. After a day or so when they look dry turn them over and they will dry a little quicker on the reverse side.

When they are completely dry its time to decorate. really looking forward to that bit. Think I will use both sharpies and paint. Please see late post for finished result.

Happy halloween

Thought I would make a haunted house for the front door this Halloween. Got a cereal box, drew a design and cut it out.
To make the sides I cut a long strip about 5 cm wide and cello taped it to the front. To make the corners a bit sharper I scored it a bit, not al the way through, and then folded.

I am a big fan of quick crafts and this one did not take too long.

I covered it with tissue paper and added some black card for roof and around windows and door. Also a giant bat on the roof. Also te windows are cut out to be able to put some lights in the house to make it even moore spooky. I was going to but the battery operated fairy light did not work. Have got millions of fairy lights at home but half of them does not seem to work. Think I might have to buy some more now that the darker season is uppn us.

Hamging by a thread

Is'nt this the prettiest thing you have seen. Fills me with joy to look at it. Not a bad thing either that my husband bought it for me.

Buttons

I have seen a lot of button craft around but never tried it myself. So when I had an afternoon to spare I gave it a go.
Nd what a nice afternoon it was. I am very partial to quick crafts and not much tidying and this is it! Very quick and endless possibilities. Bough a big pack of buttons from brilliant Swedish craft supplier craft & creativity so I have got many hours of button  craft to look forward to.
